@-pegasus asked:

do you skateboard irl at all or is that strictly an apogee character trait

I own two skateboards. I bought a Superior deck that quickly became a prop for Apogee, and a Santa Cruz drop-through that I’d intended to use for grocery runs. The last time I skated was in October 2019, and I bailed so badly that I was still wearing gauze under my fursuit at MFF that year. After the pandemic started, I decided it’d be best to avoid any activity that might land me in a hospital.

These days I have the e-bike, and both boards are collecting dust.

this makes me think about how a couple times in the last 12 months i picked up a replacement for A Hobby Thing Lost In The Incident, something I considered to be a defining thing that I did, only to realize i actually no longer gave a shit about it, and now it collects dust.

i have something i cared deeply about that i managed to keep with me couchsurfing across two countries and when i got a space of my own i turned it on and just, did not care

i'm at peace with this. maybe it's a relief to have one less thing to devote my attention to. but i do wonder once my new home is complete and no longer my full time project, what will I do with my life?

also, seeing Apogee's goofy ass suit face grin again makes me really happy. what a good dog

I started downsizing my life a little after I got downsized out of work — it gave me some time to evaluate the stuff of mine that was taking up space on bookshelves, in boxes, in the garage, deciding if I really needed to keep some of it around. I used to have a sizeable NERF collection. It’s at a Goodwill now.

i think it's inevitable that i'll own a ton of stuff again, after a few years pass. i love to save things. not in a hoarder way, more in a "this ancient record player is really high quality and doesn't deserve to be out on trash day so I'll take it home and fix it" way. but for the moment the feeling of being lightweight and fresh and consolidated is great.

I think what I'll try to do instead of collecting is to keep circulating the tapes mid century antiques. Keep one favorite for myself, and put everything else in the hands of those who would enjoy it.

After all, I need one room bare for VR behavior
