an online game where instead of matchmaking you had like, just a list of games that were underway right now and you could just join one? and it could show you like, what your ping was and how many other people were in there and what map they were on, but like before you even JOINED

Er, I mean, uh, yes that would be wonderful. I can only just barely imagine it though.
There could be a service that specializes in this and then could even become a large part of the community before it somehow turns into a media empire and then gets bought up by a large multinational media conglomerate and destroyed
