Given the original is specifically communis opinion doctorum I would suggest "scientific consensus" rather than the literal translation. (On the other hand, is "scientific consensus" really that much less pretentious-sounding than consensus scientibus, or communis opinio?)
I’ve mainly seen it used in soft discipline papers where “scientific” consensus doesn’t fit well
