Retrofuturism - an image of the future painted by the past. It's an aesthetic that beatmania ClubMIX was already channeling, with its use of space-age imagery in a game released in 2000, and its song list mixing modern (at the time) dance music with classic disco and funk. Ironically, a game designed in the image of retrofuturism of its time might now be considered retrofuturistic itself, with the passage of time.
At any rate, DJ SIMON mixes fast breakbeats, blissful piano, spacey synths, and a touch of guitar into our final song here at 5keysongoftheday. It's a truly nostalgic tune, and one that succeeds in uniting the past and the future.
Perhaps Cohost, itself, was also retrofuturisim; an ideal of the future of social media, built on concepts of the past and the present.

Here's a real crowd-pleaser. This saucy salsa tune made its way around a number of BEMANI games, but its humble beginnings were in GOTTAMIX2. The catchy chorus will get everyone moving for sure, and the song's lyrics might turn some heads too. Are we sure they're just about beatmania...?

One more day to go, and let me tell you, I've got a good finale planned. No encore, though, unfortunately; the club wants us out.

Now this one's a tune you might've heard before. The famous theme of Metal Gear Solid gets a hard hitting big beat remix, with crunchy guitars taking on the first melody and heavy drum beats driving the rhythm. Damn, what am I gonna do?
Funnily enough, going by some datamined filenames, this remix was almost featured in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, of all games. It likely ended up cut due to some plagiarism allegations circling the original track, considering the original theme is also among the filenames of missing tracks. A shame, really; it would've been incredibly funny to perform CQC on Super Mario while a beatmania track plays.
