the hostile, passive aggressive responses to even the most mild criticism of this site's lack of key social interactivity features are more irritating than the actual issues I have with the website
I think it's fine to think that people who want cohost to be more like [website they came from] Aren't Getting It™. But being a snide little snot about it isn't actually making your Good Sebsite Where Things Are Better feel actually welcoming. Going "L" at everyone who does not immediately click with the vibe with 0 transition period is not actually very good community building, and gives a sense of catty cliquishness and a strong fucking air of judgement that only discourages any divergent expression.
Give the new folks A Goddamn Second to get used to the website before you start fucking mocking them. And then don't actually do that once they've had that second, because it's shitty, and didn't somehow stop being a shitty thing to do just because Cohost Is Good. You have to actually be nice if you want cohost to be good for anyone that isn't You: The Sequel. Which I hope you do want, for reasons I hope I don't have to explain.
