Once, there was a link here. Now it is a memory. A memory of laughter and hope. A memory of good times. A memory that shall not be forgotten.

This is fantastic! What is the beach substrate under the ice? It reminds me a bit of waves (without ice) on a cobbled beach.
I think it would be (calcareous) clay, though I would need to check to be sure--the lake in this area abuts clay bluffs, but as this particular spot is a boat launch it may have been graveled over or had the underlying lime shale exposed.
I went out to check--turns out I didn't take these shots at the boat launch after all! These are from the foot of the bluff about 300' north--which, due to the anti-erosion measures engineered into portions of the bluffs on state parkland here in the late '70s, means that the original clay beach substrate is covered by large-grain gravel that eroded out of the retaining structure.
i like the way you presented this with the snippet of audio and the gifs, i just set that to loop and left it on my screen for a while.
this brought back memories of the year i lived in a cottage on a lake in wisconsin. thank you so much for this.
the small clinking is so pretty... it's almost like scales rolling over each other?
