yes! sin, cos and tan are ratios of each pair of sides of a right triangle, relative to one of the non-right angles.
sine = opposite/hypotenuse
cosine = adjacent/hypotenuse
tangent = opposite/adjacent
a common (clearly zero-effort lol) mnemonic for this is SOHCAHTOA pronounced "soak a toe, ah"
