I went through all my kongregate fav'd games and migrated them to a Flashpoint playlist and this is the weirdest nostalgia experience ever because it turns out half these games are pretty good and the other half are VERY bad
like, say, the developers of Rogue Legacy
to be honest I need to go thru more before I can make any confident reccs... many of these are decent-but-not-standout in the modern context because indie games have come so far lmao
Some Rogue Legacy special rooms would just be a large portrait of one of their flash games. I recognized quite a few and was amazed at how many different genres they encompassed: a narrative game "I Have 1 Day", a tower defense "Villainous", and of course the wonderful classic "Don't Shit Your Pants" that was a love letter to retro text parsers.
Ooh what were your favorite (good) games on kongregate? I used to spend sooooo much time there.
It's honestly hard for modern me to make an accounting of which ones are still good, I need to play thru some more of them lmao
😭 i wish baby me actually had an account and favorited games, now I have to rely on a slightly hazy memory of gameplay and graphics to find them. But it was really fun discovering that some of the GROW games were made to advertise the same university in Japan that I studied at
