25: Spider

Entry 14: The Spider’s Blade, a relic of the (now fallen) Grand Empire of His Glorious Majesty the Undying Edward.

Description: A blade three feet in length made of an early steel alloy. The blade has no distinguishing marks apart from a thin channel traveling its length which was used to deliver poison to a target in battle. The hilt is shaped like a spider, with the front four legs forming the guard, while the back four legs are joined together to form the grip. It is an extremely silly looking design Note: Researchers are reminded that editorializing is strongly discouraged

History: The Spider’s Blade was used by one of HGM Undying Edward’s most trusted generals who was considered to be an expert in subterfuge and assassination. It was very rarely used in battle, as the general himself was rarely on the front lines, but several assassinations of high-ranking officials are thought to have been carried out with the blade. It is said the blade was bestowed on agents dispatched by the general for targets considered to be high-priority, although this theory was never proven. The more clandestine operations of the Grand Empire of His Glorious Majesty the Undying Edward were not in the habit of keeping detailed records, and of those that did exist many were destroyed or lost in the Grand Empire’s collapse.

It is thought that the Spider’s Blade may have been the murder weapon used for the assassination of Undying (not the most accurate of titles, was it) Note: Researchers are once again reminded not to editorialize Edward himself, although this is suspected to be propaganda on the part of the replacement regime, who was invested in proving that Edward had lost the loyalty of his subjects long before.
