I am on my knees begging the rights holders for old anime to just let me fuckin' buy their goods at high definition. How is the video quality on some fly-by-night Yahoo Anime operation's video stream about a billion times better than the Crunchyroll stream that I pay money for? Y'all got the rights to the goddamn shows! Use them to get a better fucking transfer!
Sorry, I was just watching one of the Dirty Pair OVAs and was like "damn these look good, I wonder how much of this was because they had more budget than the tv series and how much was because Crunchyroll got some washed-ass videos on their site?" and guess what it was basically all just the washed-ass videos. I gotta assume this is the fault of whatever distributor they have to deal with, because the Gundam I've watched looks pretty good! But Dirty Pair suffers from neglect which is a real bummer, both from a "hey I think that's a real fucking good show and want to see it looking its best" but also from an archival "hey it feels like a crime to have so much old media only legally available in a demonstrably uglier format than is possible and in fact fucking exists." It's a damn shame, man.
Yes I know there's a bluray release of all the Dirty Pair stuff in the pipeline, I mentioned it last time I ranted about Dirty Pair at length, the shit with the Crunchyroll offering is part of a larger set of beefs I have with this junk in general, ya dig? YA FEEL ME?
