Watched Crusher Joe this evening because come on, it's the first appearance of Kei and Yuri in something and also all the clips I saw made it look shit hot and I am glad to report back that Crusher Joe is shit hot and holy goddamn they do not make movies like this anymore. The thing is two hours and change long and I did not notice how long it had been at all, just hits the ground running and then refuses to stop running for the duration. The animation is seriously incredible, just some real old-school gorgeousness on display, and that's not even getting into just how fucking crazy good the backgrounds and ship design and the like million little details are.
Seriously a cool fucking film. Go watch it if you can, it is literally just Out There on youtube if you don't mind the dub (it's not a bad dub!) and Discotek did a bluray release in the US back in 2020 so you can still get your hands on it relatively easily. I know that I'll be picking it up, that's for damn sure.
