I write the stuff and I post the stuff and sometimes it's even good stuff

Every time October rolls around, historically, I take the opportunity to stretch my legs, so to speak, and watch or play stuff that I normally would not - specifically like, horror-stuff. I do this because I am not built for horror, but at the same time I somewhat paradoxically love horror. Generally, this means that I own a bunch of survival horror games (quite literally Every Resident Evil except for some of the multiplayer stuff, RE7, and RE8) that I never play, and every so often I will rent or otherwise hunt down a spooky thing that gives me nightmares. It is a tradition of sorts!

This year, for the craic, I elected to sit down and Finally Finish a Resident Evil Game. Because I am broken, and because I spent September falling down an emulation hole, I'd been running around RE1 for the PSX, but I decided the thing to do would be to take on the task of going through the RE1 remake, because why not? I have the damn thing on enough platforms at this point, might as well. I elected to do it on the Switch, because an important thing I have learned this year is that when you play a scary game on a handheld, it is way less scary.

Which is why after beating RE1, I just kinda kept going and beat RE2 and RE3 after that! Then I went back to RE2 and did Claire's B story, because I unlocked the classic costume with her bitchin' pink vest. I would upload some screenshots, but played them primarily on my Steam Deck (a good investment, as it turns out!) and now, well, here we are! I am thinking that I might go back and play through these again on PC, where they will look much better and deliver a lot more HORROR VIBES (theoretically), and at any rate having faced down the horror once I can do it again.

Maybe I will even check out this third person mode they've put into Resident Evil 8, because more Resident Evil seems like it could be a good time! I will not, however, be delving into RE7, because I am still a coward and first person horror just really fucks me up (hello Alien Isolation I will never beat you but I love your vibes, they are immaculate).

Or maybe I will cool it on the survival horror for a while. Then again, Signalis just came out yesterday and that has some real fuckin' vibes, let me tell you what, so... who truly can say what's going to happen? Have I replaced my Metal Gear Solid hyperfixation with Resident Evil? Eh, not the worst that could happen.
