Gonna do Swordtember, gonna do it here, blah blah cohost broke and ate my first entry so here it is again (changed, because I couldn't remember it all)

1: Crystal “Do you know why they used to make blades out of crystal, child?”

“Because it looked pretty?”

“It was not because it looked pretty, no. Aesthetics have no place on the battlefield, unless you are super-into death or something.”

I think they look pretty.” “The reason they made blades out of crystal,” said with infinite patience that was currently discovering just how far infinite went, “was because a crystal made fine enough to cut is extremely fragile. One must be cautious, and wait for the precise opening before striking – and only strike when it is guaranteed to be a successful one. An imprudent warrior will find themselves without a weapon, and good as dead.”

“But doesn’t a warrior not need a weapon to win in battle?”

“That is why they stopped making crystal swords,” stated with satisfaction that her pupil had been paying attention after all. “A warrior with sufficient training and motivation can kill without a blade.”

“Plus it’s kind of stupid to send someone off to fight with a shitty weapon just to make some kinda philosophical point.”

“Wars have been fought to make some kinda philosophical point, child.”

“That seems extremely fucking stupid.”

“Then you have been paying attention.”
