So I thought my first memory was of me watching over my baby sister and thinking "Man this sure is bullshit! I am just a baby myself. But, luckily for me, there is an Adult in me that can take over if need be." Aka Aelita. So this would have had to have happened in '94/5/6.
But as I'm making an "outline" of my life (it's just me, bird,'s memories at this point), I remember another memory. I am being told that I was super into Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, and Thomas the Tank Engine before that, because a family friend's son was into those things and I kept copying him. But this can't possibly be true, baby me thinks, I have no memory of this. But I have these toys and even a Power Rangers Halloween costume, and here is a picture of me in it from this past Halloween! So I guess it's true. Maybe it's this "infantile amnesia" thing, it's a hard stop and everything before a certain age is whole-cloth thrown out. Even if the thing in question happened, like, 2 months ago. But I am a small child! What do I know!
But Power Rangers premiered in 1993, I discover upon googling. Which is before my sister was born. So...my very first memory is actually me being told I did something, me having no memory of it despite the physical evidence, and thinking "oh well! I guess this is normal!" Which is kind of funnier than me thinking I'd just have Aelita take the wheel if things go bad.
I asked my sister if there was any Notable Events she wanted to share with me, and she mentioned this very upsetting incident about a pet, where she was being forced to make a Very Adult Decision. And she remembers me standing up for her and saying, hey, she's a little kid, don't make her do this! And it was very meaningful for her, because, at that point, we were very hostile towards each other.
And I'm all. Oh the pet thing sounds familiar but "I" don't remember doing that lol. That must have been Aether (for being defiant) or Aelita (for being caring of someone else)!
Apparently "I" also spun the hands really fast on a learning to tell time fake clock when I was really little, to pretend to be time traveling, and they broke, so I ran away. And, yeah, that sounds like something Aether would do lol.
