as a company we deeply believe that people should be able to run silly little joke brand accounts. obviously, this creates some potential for confusion, so we've begun rolling out our new Unverified™️ program to let users know which accounts aren’t real. unsure whether or not @Disney is actually run by the Walt Disney Corporation? just look for the badge!
we’ll be adding more pages to the Unverified™️ program soon! keep an eye out for more updates here.
FAQ
Q: how do I get Unverified™️?
A: sorry, but by being you, you have already failed the first criterion for Unverification™️. better luck next time… I think?
Q: ok but seriously, I thought that impersonation wasn’t allowed.
A: not a question, but we’ve written the community guidelines to only ban impersonation with intent to harass someone, or which is likely to deceive others. @NintendoAmerica announcing the upcoming release of “Sex 2” makes it fairly obvious that it is not the real Nintendo of America account. For one, Nintendo doesn’t even have the rights to make a new Sex game anymore; they lost those in the Rare acquisition.
Q: I’m a brand and someone is running a fake account with the username I want. how can I get that username?
A: sorry, but usernames are first-come-first-serve. if you wanted that name, you should have signed up earlier. consider @BrandOfficial, or reach out to us if you need help brainstorming alternate names.
Q: the badge is vertically misaligned
A: also not a question, also we know, jae’s gonna try to fix it tomorrow. css is hard.
