so like it's kind wild that we've gotten, like, such an incredible spread of spider-man villains portrayed in live-action over a period of like twenty years or so, right? like that's really neat. with a few exceptions they've all honestly been bangers, too. like can you name any other singular superhero whose rogue's gallery has been so thoroughly represented? like we got:

1. Green Goblin (twice!)
2. Doctor Octopus
3. Sandman
4. Venom (also twice!)
5. n... new goblin... does he count, actually? he's just harry osborne on a hoverboard, not really a classic--
6. The Lizard
7. Electro (shout out to Jamie Foxx getting to take another stab at him for a chance to, y'know, maybe not play him as a parasocial loser)
8. Rhino (twice, once the Kraven movie drops!)
9. Vulture
10. Shocker (two of em!!)
11. Tinkerer
12. Prowler? Donald Glover cameos in Across the Spider-Verse wearing the outfit, does this count?
    13. okay homecoming's scorpion definitely doesn't count why am i putting this here
13. Mysterio
    14. okay i also don't think we can count cyclone, sandman, hydro-man, or molten man from far from home since they weren't actually there
    14. wait do venom villains count as spider-man villains? would putting carlton drake, riot, and roland treece count here

15. Carnage!!
16. Shriek
17. siiiiiiigh... Morbius...
18. Kraven
19. wait do we know if the Chameleon is actually gonna do any Chameleoning in the Kraven movie or not

21. lmfao hold up spider-man has a villain just named "the foreigner?" damn, spider-man xenophobic moments

also i don't think ezekiel sims is generally a villain but who know how things in Madame Web will play out. i'm sure the inheritors are gonna pop up, probably.

part of me thought "i should rank all the live-action spider-man villains!" but couldn't decide how to determine who exactly would go on the list. like Aleksei Sytsevich is barely in Amazing Spider-Man 2, i'd hardly call him one of that movie's villains. but it'd feel weird to count Shocker and Tinkerer for homecoming as the real threat is Vulture, but they both have considerable screentime and impact on the plot

clearly i need to develop some kind of algorithm for this
