making up a ffxiv guy whose only exposure to the game is heavily modded screenshots and is shocked to find out lalafell aren't stacked like crazy

I'm working on the Level 96 Healer role quest but keep getting this message every time I try to Esuna this last bather. Anyone know what could be going on?

Thanks to @GraceHorizon for the info on the workaround, ended up having to abandon the quest and redid it while taking care of the bathers in a different order. Got a bit worried when an NPC who walked away in a cutscene was still around once the cutscene ended, but everything worked out okay!
