Question of the Day!
What is something your WoL/OC did that they regret?
(inspired by @AcidXShark misreading yesterday's prompt!)
"Oh! See? I didn't answer yesterday's question wrong, I was just early for this one!
"Like I said, regretting things is tough to wrap your head around. The narrative of my life hasn't always been a happy one, but if I start worrying about what could have gone differently, then the question becomes whether or not things would have been worse or better for the world.
"Like, let's say - hypothetically of course - that a man is walking alone through the deserts of Southern Thanalan. This hypothetical hyur, hyurpothetical if you will, has been traveling for some time to acquire a very special potion for his loved one. Now let's say, hypothetically, that this guy tries to take a shortcut through some ruins, right? There's not much in these ruins, at least not the ones on the surface, just some golems that are slow enough that if he books it he can probably outrun them.
"Now, hypothetically, let's say a firedrake, perhaps one descended from a prestigious line of firedrakes belonging to the Sil'dihn royal family before the collapse of their kingdom that had been living in these aboveground ruins for years after it found itself tragically separated from its family due to a cave-in but carved out a living for itself and managed to build up a particularly impressive hoard of really cool bottles (again, this is all hypothetical, we call this 'worldbuilding'), was nearby in one of the structures this guy was passing by and thought he was intruding on its territory and struck him down. And let's say that special potion for this slain hyur's loved one was something that could bestow the firedrake with intelligence and self-awareness. Let's say the firedrake thought it was a weird egg and ate it.
"And then years down the line, that intelligent firedrake finds out the guy it killed had a name and a family. Let's say it procures another one of those special potions for herself in case she ever grew tired of dealing with the conflicts of the world and simply wanted to go back to the way things were. Let's say she felt so bad for what she did that she tracked down that man's family and gave them the potion, in part as repentance but also because she recognizes that while she regrets her actions, if she hadn't become who she was the world may have been worse off.
"...I mean, who it was. Again, this is all hypothetical, of course."
How long has it been? The sunrises and sunsets seem to blur together now. Will I ever see my loved ones again? All I know now... is the tower.
Aigead you've been here less than a full day.
We've forgotten the taste of bread, precious.
I AM A GOD
