Your factory thermal solution applications need some work
The hotspot temps on this card (3090) commonly reached 93c and would throttle, easily being 15-20 degrees over the reported normal temperature. This lead me to perform my least favorite computer activity, re-pasting a modern videocard
The results haven’t been perfect - hotspot temps are now 10c or so higher than reported temps but it doesn’t go above 89c when running stress tests. Part of this is probably due to me using a Thermal Grizzly graphite sheet instead of normal paste. I wanted to try it out, and it works! But I don’t think it’s getting the application pressure it needs due to the INSANE THERMAL PADS they decided to use for everything else
Those bastards were like GLUE and you can see how torn up they got just from disassembly. The cherry on top was the plastic still being attached to some of them! Garbage!
When I get new pads I’ll use real paste, but for the moment I’m happy enough with it not throttling anymore.
