I recently got a Sony Trinitron KV-20V80 and it has geometry issues as soon as brightness is increased
First two photos are how the TV came - contrast/picture was cranked all the way up. Third photo is Picture turned down to a minimum. The distortion is much better, but still there in small ways and, being at zero contrast, the picture is quite dark.
None of the service menu options had any effect. I cracked open the set and I only have two adjustment pots, focus and screen - which also had no effect on the distortion.
Considering it happens when the image is brighter, I’m thinking this might be a power draw issue but I know absolutely nothing about CRTs. My old friend capacitors causing issues again? TV manufacture date is 1998 so it would make sense.
