Acute sat on the fountain's edge, the water a low drone in the background of the murmuring crowd of Monsters and Humans heading home or to one of the tens of market stalls. The Boss Monster took another swig of the elderberry wine and sighed. Today had sucked. Today had been his day to tidy up their mother's shrine: dusting, sweeping, gathering up any offerings and setting them up inside the wooden building, making note of a loose floorboard, taking down the decorative fabrics to be washed.
They hadn't been able to spend a lot of time growing up there with all the Monsters and Adventurers swarming the place, but the shrine was the last place they had seen their mother.
Acute was shaken from his thoughts when a Human male sat down next to him. His hands were clenching his knees and tears were flowing from his eyes which were wide in shock? Confusion?
"My girlfriend just turned into a dragon and flew away."
Acute nodded. "Yeah, that happens sometimes. Moon Dragon?"
The young man nodded, sniffing.
"Yeah," Acute nodded again, before offering the man his bottle of wine. "Moon's a bitch."
Despite Double Talk and Parting Ways not necessarily being friends or even allies, they're both the bad eggs of the group, giving the pair the name The Troubles.
Double Talk is underhanded and cruel all for his amusement. He goes out of his way to cause drama and seems to soak up the resulting fallout like a plant soaks up water. In short, he is someone not to be trusted. He'll be a friend one day and an enemy the next. It's not clear how Double Talk ended up being so devious. Perhaps he was just "born" that way, but most likely, something from the Outside shaped him into the natural liar he is today.
His Whisper is "Speak" which causes the spread of misinformation, which causes all sorts of accidents. His Second Form is rather useless in battle having no real attack or defensive power, but that doesn't stop him from spectating and commentating on the action.
Parting Ways could be seen as Double Talk's opposite. He rather fight first and ask questions never. He's vicious and sadistic, taking pleasure in fighting and physically hurting others. In truth he puts on a brave act to cover up any emotions he doesn't want to deal with, like sadness or confusion. He really rather fight than do anything else.
His Whisper is "Kill" which leads to "heat of the moment" murders. His Second Form reflects his lack of reservations of killing, as his body is made up mostly of knifes. He is the most powerful Voice in terms of raw physical strength. In fights, his love for killing can sometimes overtake him so that even after a threat is put down, he'll continue to search for something more to kill.
