I rarely pick up comics anymore, but last year I went through a couple of stories that I had left hanging years ago. One of them was War of Realms, a massive Thor-crossover event where Malekith is leading the dark elves, and other shifty people, on a, well, war of realms. Thor gathers the forces from Asgard, and also several Avengers, to fight back, leading to one of the spin-offs War of the Realms: Spider-Man & the League of Realms

And there was this one moment that caught me completely off guard and is basically a short version of how Peter can work so well as a character. He is leading his team of misfits against angels from Heven, before facing their leader, who is not satisfied with the way she and her troops were forced to join this battle, and takes out on him

Panel 1: Fernande, an angel from Heven watches from the inside of a cathedral as her forces are attacked. Panel 2: Holding bloody feathers, she laments and questions what is the point of this conflict. Panels 3, 4 and 5: Spider-man enters the scene, declaring he's here to stop this battle, leading to Fernande's angrily lunging at him
Panels 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5: Fernande attacks Peter, throwing and launching him against walls, while exclaiming her purpose, how she was raised to fight, to know nothing else aside from her pain and the death of her enemies. Panel 6: A shocked Peter says that he's sorry
Panels 1 and 2: Caught offguard, Fernande ask what this is, and Peter says that all sounds horrible and asks if she doesn't wish she could stop. Panel 3: A close up of Fernande's eyes, her anger giving in to understanding Panel 4: With a look of suspicions, she asks "How?" Panel 5: Peter extends his hand, saying that for starters, she can help him up

And that was the entire conflict. They talk it out, she joins him and rebels against the rest of the attackers. It works so well that its ridiculous.
