Still reeling from the latest episode of X-men 97, and its not even a case of "where we go from here", its just a "oh, this is where we are right now".
I remember a while back, shortly before it started airing, some folks were talking about how the cartoon was most likely a way to test the waters and set up mutants for the eventual MCU take; funny enough, the end result for me is that I've completely lost any interest in a live-action adaptation, not only from this universe but any other.
There's simply no movie magic that could ever get close to what they've done in this series, not just on the budget but also on the writing, choreography, the absurd and goofy drama, the sheer stakes. Even the cameos, which would be an eye-rolling moment in this already bloated cinematic universe feel much more at home here, they are simply displaying the story takes place in a larger universe. Its much closer to the GotG/Spider-man games way of giving players broad glimpses at what has happened in the past and letting them puzzle out the fine details.
With the awkward firing of the showrunner, the quality of future seasons is unclear, but right now this has to be the top adaptation the X-men franchise ever had, and easily one of the best comic book adaptations ever. They could've settled on pure and simple fanservice, but decided to reach for much more (and still gave us absurd fanservice)
