when i was playing mario & luigi superstar saga as a kid i was convinced luigi would die because i was learning about foreshadowing in middle school and i felt luigi had death clues. he didn't want to go on the adventure and everyone was undermining him so obviously he was going to die proving himself, so everyone would feel bad for treating him so poorly. i think kid me also had this backwards logic like, "luigi wasn't in mario sunshine so they're phasing him out. this will be luigi's Sendoff. his last hurrah."
when you have the solo luigi bit on the koopa cruiser near the end where he disguises himself as peach i was convinced luigi was going to die in that scene. it was ironic he would die here, because he accidentally got taken aboard the koopa cruiser against his will in the beginning and his bad feeling about this adventure would prove itself right...
keep in mind i liked luigi and i was happy i was wrong. but when your english class is going over the book holes by louis sachar, you start expecting everything is being set up like that book is.
