Good review! It's funny and telling how Polygon liked this game for the very same reasons you disliked, in that there is clearly a designated audience for this and you're not in it, which is perfectly fine.
In a similar vein, Polygon's recent negative review of Remnant 2 where the reviewer complained it was hot out and they were sick of post-apocalyptic fiction shows just how poorly critical articles can be written. Ultimately, I think you approached your criticisms of this game in good faith, which makes all the difference in the world, and I find that kind of review very valuable. There's absolutely nothing wrong with saying this game isn't for me and going into why so long as you're not yucking other's yums. You're a great writer because you walked that tightrope well in this article.
On the other hand, though, sounds like a skill issue. Have you thought about getting good, scrub?
I think I'm getting better at my critical analysis. I've been kind of forcing myself to look deep into my feelings about a piece of media to get to the core of why I feel that way.
As for actually getting good, I'm afraid it might be a lost cause.
The part where you discuss the need for multiple clicking when other games would automatically do that is a really solid insight insight into the design ethos of this game, because that's a hard C Choice.
My masochistic tendencies run towards Kaizo platformers, not whatever Excel Hell this is, so you're stronger than me in that regard.
