Jill Katze: i got really into it a while back and got my hands on a bunch of old discs and equipment
Jill Katze: the variety in disc casings is really astounding. out of a combined lot of around 150 used discs, the amount of discs that were both the same case style and same color was unbelievably small
Jill Katze: i'd been meaning to sit down and catalog them at some point. maybe i'll borrow my wife's scanner and see if they scan well so i can get good images of a bunch of them at once and not spend 99 years taking shitty photos of each one
Jill Katze: incredibly tiny solid state storage might be objectively better in every way as an actual practical storage medium, but it just doesn't have the heart of putting a big chunky piece of plastic into a slot and hearing all the machinery clicking into place
