ok but I've actually done the first one on accident before. there's a street that's alternately spelled either Base Line or Baseline and when I saw the latter on a sign I thought it was a totally different street and tried to pronounce it phonetically
even more fucked up when v and b are the same consonant sound in some languages
I'm proud to have once concluded a lab meeting presentation with a powerpoint slide asking "why isn't baseline pronounced like vaseline?"
