don't. save yourself. value your own time. you aren't missing anything, and you can find meaningful things to engage with on and off the internet that are not fandoms, i believe in you.
Maybe a crisp light fandom is a nice cap to the end of the day, nothing too potent but a relaxing activity. Maybe exploring stronger brews of hyperfixation is a fun facet of life. Maybe you want to crack open a bottle of that bourbon barrel-aged brainworms discourse that is almost too strong to swallow and will leave you with a headache in the morning.
Though now the option to drink water (say no to fandoms) or partake in an entirely different kind of drink like wine (media analysis essays?) is getting an odd appeal in this metaphor.
