Good for them. Nobody should want to get a driver's license. Driving a car is something to mourn, not something to celebrate or look forward to. The ecological and human safety ramifications are disastrous.
Of course, pushing the moral cost of driving onto your parents or onto the Amazon delivery driver isn't actually improving things. But at least they're starting from the right place.
it's simple: once upon a time, cars were freedom, a transition from childhood to adulthood, an opportunity to interact with the larger world
today they mostly don't achieve that. and smartphones do.
Alternatively, you can live in or move to a country or city where you aren't car dependant!
