Ok so even though I have it in my settings to show new notifications on the sidebar I wasn't getting notifications at all. I thought my posts and comments elsewhere were getting zero interaction when really I just wasn't getting notified. Is anybody else having a similar issue?

Yeah there are a few bugs surrounding the way notifications are handled! I think one fix is coming Monday to how notifs are handled. Not sure if it'll fix this particular issue though as it's specifically for site performance and another bug that leads to a site error!
