now that the heat's died down, Microsoft's decided that Windows-records-everything-you-do feature will go public preview in October. https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2024/06/07/update-on-the-recall-preview-feature-for-copilot-pcs/
so uh, how's everyone tracking on their exit strategies?

I think the issue is that people are afraid that long term, this is going to be a standard Windows feature, since it doesn't really require those specific PCs to run. I'm not sure if they're going to make it standard for Windows 11, since it largely exists as something to get you to buy a new machine with a new feature, but I could see this just being part of Windows 12.

Still waiting for a solution that doesn't require me to learn a new operating system. I honestly don't even know where to start with linux, and nobody pushing linux seems to understand that people not interested in tech have to start it somewhere.

But yeah, microsoft is going to eat the entire planet or die trying, and I hope it's the latter.

I'm continuing to work on my audio/video recompression tool (which re-encodes files to newer codecs with minimal quality loss) so I'll save enough space to have a comfortably-sized Linux partition, I figure
