Because all of this stuff is so hard to understand the complexities of. So people can't even begin to understand the complexity of navigating around it. And for a lot of people, even with the time and awareness to start the process, it's not an easy thing to focus on. The task of relearning how to use computers from a coding standpoint, instead of a user standpoint, requires a lot of mental resources that people just don't have to spend. We're all just trying to survive in the most free and civilized countries on Earth, you know?
There's got to be a way to bridge the gaps between the people trapped in the tech hellscape, and the people fighting against it, no different than there has to be a way to bridge those between the downtrodden and those fighting against oppression in their communities. This battle is, and must be, a component of the fight against tyranny and evil in the modern world. Capitalism, in all it's forms, is the face of that modern evil.
