It's good to hear that your GF has landed a job at least, congrats to her ! Hopefully things will get back on track, if slowly.
Things suck these days, inflation plays a number on people who aren't doing great financially already. I myself am an idiot with money and I've watched my slim savings leak out over the last few years, everytime I think it's fine I go shopping for essentials and am off sometimes twice as much as I predicted, the problem is I still buy myself stuff like it wasn't the case and though I'm trying to cut my "pleasure spendings" I'm always a couple steps behind.
Retail therapy is unfortunately one of the rare things that kinda work for me, and in a way it feels unfair that I am making more than before but can afford less.
Credit is kinda different where I live and I've managed to avoid it so far.

Anyway, sorry for ranting too, I hope stuff settles down a bit in your household.
