I don't know if I ever told anyone this, but I tried out for Juilliard, the music school, when I was in my early teens. I was an exceptional trumpet player at the time for the school band. I completely messed up the audition, because I couldn't hit certain high notes.
I used to play trumpet when I was younger. It was a neat instrument, chosen because it was one of the cheapest to rent (we were poor). I was so good, my teacher hooked me up with a Silver Yamaha that sounded great (I think there was a payment plan, but it wasn't much).
The school band years were some of the best years of my life, and sparked my interest in learning keyboard/piano. It's why I do what I do now.
