I wasn't going to post about this, but now it finally hit my PS5, so I'm going to write up a rant. I have YouTube watch history turned off (I'll explain why in a bit), and apparently YouTube decided to just make my home page blank. I used to use my home page to view videos recommended to me (also existing videos I either liked, or were related to my likes).
First they took it from me on PC. Then on my phone and tablet. And just earlier this morning I lost my PS5 page. I'm not turning on watch history, because in my experience, it's a bad time. I sometimes like to watch videos of boss fights in video games, and when I did this with watch history on, it decided I should see boss fights (sometimes final bosses) for games I actually wanted to play. That's just the main issue I have with Watch History.
What this means is that I cannot see new videos from sources I may not be subscribed to. This has to be hurting creators to some extent. I don't directly subscribe to a lot of people I used to watch because it floods my subscription feed. I'd rather see the videos based on my likes on the home page.
This is such a stupid move on YouTube's part. I might be in the minority as far as having watch history off, but I don't want to turn it on and risk being spoiled for a game just because I watched a video of a different game. I really hope they change their mind, but it has been going on for a long time on PC, so I doubt they will.
