I've always really liked the music in Scrap Brain Zone, but it suffered slightly from the Mega Drive only being able to play one PCM sample at a time, meaning the sampled drums and timpani overlap awkwardly and cut each other off. So, I did some funny channel shuffling and used a super cool trick to free up an FM synth channel to play FM synth drums that don't intrude on the timpani samples! I think there are maybe five people in the world that will find this interesting.
(The funny trick involves operator mode 4, which uses the four operators of an FM synth channel in two pairs of two, resulting in a sort of virtual two sets of two operator FM synth channels, though they can't be controlled separately. But FM synth channel 3 has a funny special mode which lets you control the exact pitch in hz of each operator. It's hard to use and very limited, but it worked really well for this track to play two-voice chords on a single channel!)
