Was this shot through a filter? Everything I've seen of this film cross processed leans pretty cold. It's a gorgeous photo, and every shot I see of this stock makes me love it more.
Yes! An 85A color conversion filter cleans the color up mostly. This is a little tweaked in the scan, too - the slides I got have a very very slight green cast, and they seem kind of overexposed, generally. I have a couple more frames here too. It seems like it has a really squashed dynamic range, so things are blowing out really harshly. I think this might be better shot at 125 or 160 maybe? Take out some of the filter factor from the 85A...?
Huh, I knew that slide film has a seriously reduced dynamic range, but it's weird to see it affect color neg. I suppose it makes sense, tho. I wonder if under exposing will lead to the shadows dying. I wanna shoot slide but it's so uneconomical, and like you said in the other post the only option state side is ektachrome, and e6 is pricy in general. Thanks for posting your findings, btw. Wanted a good post about cross processing this film for a bit and just didn't see much talk about it here or anywhere, that I could see lol.
The dynamic range problem isn't really inherent in the film, it's the process. Positive and negative films use the same chemistry, you just kinda hit slide film with developer twice. And yeah, everyone was saying you could just "do it' but like come on, you have to do something to it. I saw a youtube video and a sheet of slides at the camera shop and both of those pointed to a warming/color conversion filter. They just don't tell you which to use!!
I think I've heard 85c or b, but beyond that, not much. I'd love to shoot it so that one could mount and project it, that would be a cool as experience. I suppose experimentation is in order once I can put the order in for more than one roll lol.
Ye. Had the lab do it that way, instead of C41. Aerocolor is weird, you can do it in a lot of ways
And you used one of those amber filters used to shoot tungsten balanced film in daylight?
Yep yep, an 85A color conversion filter. I think it's either exactly on or a little warm, so it could be pulled back a little bit cooler
