Multiple major manufacturers of plugs and cables, have announced that the regular “male” and “female” connector terms, will be replaced with “girl cock” and “boy pussy” respectively.

the actual for real answer to this is that the terminology used in most specifications i've run into is "plug" and "socket" or "receptacle"

which is pretty neutral!

the male/female designation seems(?) to be made up by probably, idk, techs and engineers?

but also you can absolutely have plugs with holes and sockets with pins if you want to get fun with it

some kind of weird hirose(?) connector with pin sockets and hole plugs

Plug/socket to me have a slightly different connotation than male/female

A socket to me is the bit that is in the wall/on the device, a plug is the bit that is on the cable (with the exception of extension cables that have one of each connector type), irrespective of the specific connector geometry
