why are the eggbugs in the Blurry 3D Scanned Repurposed Mormon Baptismal Font.... i think this is one of the most specific images i've ever seen
It's not just mormons, it turns out. This is from the infamous Blue Lick Road photo tour from Zillow a few years back. It's a converted church of some kind but probably protestant of some variety, potentially Baptist.
interesting! i suppose it's not just mormons who do immersion baptisms, so that makes sense. i just recognized the shape and depth, and the dual stairs (that would normally connect to men's/women's bathrooms with changing stalls). in a mormon chapel, the right wall here would've originally been a sliding door of some kind with a glass barrier so friends and family can watch the ceremony from the adjoining room (there are visible seams between the original walls that covered the stairs and the new wall that filled it in).
looks like someone figured out it was originally the Bonaventure Church Of Christ in Louisville, Kentucky, so it's super interesting to me that so much of the intact interior structure, decor and carpeting are like. EXACTLY the same as the brick mormon churches i grew up in. even now i am learning all kinds of things from cohost lol
i remember when most of the internet just thought that was a random pool/hot tub in a giant house full of random DVDs and Amazon merch. that was a rabbit hole and a half. π
