Fair point. I think the real thing to keep in mind is that there are no unbiased news sources. Everything is pushing an agenda, no matter how fringe or mainstream it appears.
i don't agree and on top of that i think this attitude is genuinely pretty dangerous. "i can only trust myself" is not the place you want to be, and science is not an infallible institution.
the actual solution to this problem, insofar as it even is one, is to think about the things put in front of you and ask questions. and i don't mean questions like "are you a Real Person or a Secret Agent", i mean substantive, knowledge-seeking inquiries. participate in conversations. have dialogues with people. don't put yourself Above anything, and don't assume the worst intentions possible.
