y'know what. fine. cancel me if you want. i just don't like RGB lights in computers
honestly the only part i like them in is a keyboard. not in the case itself or anything
i bought the RGB versions of all the components I needed because they were legitimately cheaper than the non-rgb ones. i just turned them all off
A computer should have exactly 1 (one) light, and that is to show whether it is off (off), in sleep mode (slowly blinking), or on (on).
If I ever upgrade I could see maaaaaybe looking into if there's a very subdued, ambient-like setup. Maybe some amber tones.... Ah well, I'm still using a big windowless tower from 16 years ago for now.
they're so tacky the only good computer lighting is the mac keyboard lighting
i mean, most people will agree, since it's often just cheap bad addition to appeal to "Gamers™️"
cannot STAND that shit. pain in the ass to plumb up, invariably requires some bloated proprietary spyware to control/disable, and is, without fail, hideous. yuck.
fine, save $100-$500 on your pc build, have way less wires, have one less program running in your app tray, and draw less power saving you money in the long run, see if I care
this just reminded me that my GPU has rgb lights. i forgot because i disconnected them internally within an hour of discovering they were there
current computer used to have RGB Everything because that's what's cheap and I really liked how it looked when it was all set to "lowest assignable white glow".
unfortunately this required either 3 very flaky manufacturer-provided background services or one incredibly flaky open source one, and if anything in the stack slipped it would fall back to "unsynchronized rainbow cycle". with everything working perfectly it would do that anyway for a minute during boot and after hibernation.
computers would be fantastic if they were a tiny bit less shitty
