Something I've grown to not even like about cosmic horror is that it almost always has a downer ending where the "incomprehensible" threat traps the hero in purgatory or something. I feel like this parallels with Lovecraft's own racist beliefs which probably saw what we couldn't understand (like black people to white people, at the time) as existential threats. I much prefer stories where the protagonists use ingenuity or problem solving skills to overcome the threats :3
feel like this one's also been pretty well felt out, but we still got a ton of ground to cover. lots of exciting developments in the field
