Genre, medium, and style are three different things.
A genre is a set of tropes that define the category of a work (comedy, drama, fantasy, sci-fi, western, romance).
A medium is the process that was used to create a work, or the form of media that the work is presented as (animation, live action, graphic novel, painting, video game).
A style is the artistic direction of a work (film noir, found footage, surrealism, cartoon).
