@SteveIsHere asked:

Are you planning on giving the live action Yu Yu Hakusho a watch? I don't think it looks very interesting, but I do feel obligated to know how it turns out.

im sort of hostile to this crop of live action anime adaptations as a baseline but because it's Yu Yu Hakusho I do have a bit of morbid curiosity. I don't believe in it fundamentally but I'm always willing/hoping to be surprised.

By the way if anyone reading this has been listening to Media Club Plus and watching Hunter x Hunter, ESPECIALLY if you're watching for the first time and having a hard time slowing down to the pace of the show, I recommend checking out the first 3 episodes of the Yu Yu Hakusho anime. Just try 3 eps. If it doesn't click, no harm done

And listen to me, listen, come closer: watch the dub. Please. It's VERY good and they were having so much fun. There's a reason the guy who voiced Yuusuke in it (Justin Cook) pretty much runs the whole acting side of the operation at Funimation nowadays (and did for DBZ too tho he only plays actually minor roles until... wait he was Buu? Like several forms of Buu? That's wild. What was I saying?)

I (having never seen the original) liked the live action show. It wasn't great, but it was fun in a First Few Episodes Of A CW Show While It's Still Good kinda way. Had sick fight scenes.

Having since given into my curiosity the best thing I can say about it is that it made me go rewatch bits of the anime and appreciate even more how honed Togashi's character writing already was. The fights in the live action one are pretty good, but you kinda get the idea even after the first couple episodes. Cannot believe they were arrogant enough to think they could squish the dark tournament into 5 episodes.

I guess it's more like they did through the rescue Yukina arc, but just made rescuing Yukina contain the final round of the dark tournament. Maybe the worst of all worlds in that regard? Also Genkai is basically just in one episode.

I gave up on keeping pace with Media Club Plus and have now watched uh

all of HxH. I caught covid and spent most of my waking time watching it while recovering 😅

Now I'm weighing whether I want to dive into the manga
