I was talking about getting into gunpla with someone else earlier today and that prompted me to think about and revisit the first models I built (which was around this time 2 years ago, not that long ago, hmm, I wonder what was happening at the time that prompted me to find new hobbies). Ended up disassembling them a bit, brushing the dust off and even sanding some of the nubs I hadn't been able to remove 2 years ago when I was fighting with sandpaper (these days I use a glass nail file and it does wonders for very little effort).

Anyway, took the opportunity to repose them and take some new pictures. I had been thinking about re-posting some of my old gunpla pics from Twitter here for posterity, but I'm thinking I might actually take this opportunity to revisit each of them in order, give them some love and shoot brand new pics to share.

So, to that end, here's my first 2 kits: Char's Zaku and the OG Gundam in their The Origin versions. I really like them! They're kind of sticker overkill (and gunpla-beginner-me was very eager to use every sticker) and if you're looking for a faithful recreation of the suits as they appear in 0079 there are better options, but they get first-kits bonus points, go great together and they got me hooked into the hobby! I actually think these look great, despite there being some sanding crimes that luckily mostly go unnoticed in the pictures and from a distance. Good job, 2 years ago me!

My journey isn't much longer than that, but my first kits were all SD and Haropla. (My Eternal Pink got painted up in a fluorescent pink, but I might have done that with a brush and fucked it way up.)

I'm revisiting one of my earliest kits (Sinanju Stein) soon. The original I just did up with panel lines using gundam fine tip markers, and I'm intending to do a full paint job on a new one so I can have that sense of progress sitting on a shelf.
