The thing about "Rationalism" (being careful to acknowledge explicitly what predictions you have and how likely they are to be accurate) and "Effective Altruism" (choosing your actions based on how they will actually impact people in the real world over the medium-to-long-term) is that they're actually both great ideas. It's just that the natural conclusion of applying them to our current world is that we should put all our effort into stopping climate change and fomenting communist revolution, rather than what the people who use these terms seem to actually do.
