If you're ever talking to someone, say at work or whatever, and the topic of traveling at night, or on public transit comes up, they might say something like "you gotta watch out, there's some real freaks/weirdos/crazy people out there".
Every singlet time someone has Had A Problem with me, they were normal. Every single time someone has harassed me, they were normal. Every time someone has tried to get me fired, they were normal. Every bad thing that's been done to me was done by normal, average, decent people.
They tell me things like "it's scary out there". And it is, for them, because they're cowards. They go outside, jump at shadows, and then demand that the shadows die.
Never once have the "freaks" tried to hurt me.
But I guess I'm one of them, huh?
So many people's stories of why they are scared of a place are about, like, a time they went there and felt scared but it turned out nothing was wrong
