Just got some absolutely cursed knowledge: a "parameter" in FromSoft's event system isn't really a variable or a register or anything like that, it's just an instruction at the beginning of the event to rewrite every byte range that references that parameter and replace it with the parameter value before executing.
The dream of the 1960s is alive at FromSoft
at least C macros substitute an existing placeholder, this just says "overwrite instruction 16 bytes 5 through 8 with this value"
I've been thinking about this all morning, but I'm struggling to understand it.
