I mean it, and I do have the page open next to my ones for my email, tweetdeck etc but... The lack of a mobile app and the fact that it feels more like a blog site than a place to migrate to from twitter, in terms of the UI/UX and layout and text/post size etc (not length I mean the literal size it takes up on my screen) just doesn't hit the right buttons in my brain to work the same way

I've been having the same difficulty, too. It's also really hard to meet new people here! I want to make new friends - and the way the website is built certainly encourages the type of creative nonsense I tend to otherwise do in locked away spaces because there's no text limit.

... I know Cohost is trying to be Not That Website, but I feel like it could just... use a little more oomph in some areas.

For what it's worth, it works quite well as a web app on phones. somewhere in the browsers menu you hit "add to home screen" or "install" or something (it depends on the model and browser) and you get basically an app that just does the one website.
