feat. Gyorg the BLÅHAJ and my old Jirachi plush from all the way back in the early 2000s, when Nintendo New York was still the goddamn Pokémon Center, not even Nintendo World yet! Sadly its hard plastic eyes suck for cuddling purposes, but it holds a special place in my heart as both a childhood keepsake and one of my favorite Pokémon and thus gets to hang out on my main nightstand ❤ (main nightstand not pictured)
Well, not so much "I forgot" as much as "I never really connected the dots that my GBA SP-branded bag I took everywhere (or at least everywhere that my parents allowed me to take it) all the way through gradeschool was basically just a form of purse that was more socially acceptable for a boy to carry around", but still, I'm astounded it took me that long to realize that. Gender thing, or simply a coincidence? I'm tempted to just say "coincidence" (since it's not like Nintendo was marketing these specifically to girls AFAIK), but you could say that about a lot of "gender things" from my youth that went overlooked. Two is a coincidence, three is a pattern, and however the fuck many seemingly unconnected details there are that I didn't think much of until I was older? That's a goddamn body of evidence.
Frankly though, regardless of whether my old GBA purse counts as evidence of my latent girlhood or not, the real takeaway (as far as I'm concerned, at least) is that using a purse isn't actually something that would be totally new to me, if ever I did decide to wear something with fewer pockets than my belovèd cargo pants.
